Laura Schuster (Head Coach) Laura swam in high school (Elmhurst, IL) and joined MVM in 1993 when she started competing in triathlons. She has been coaching with MVM since 2001 and was appointed Head Coach in 2012. She has her USMS Level 2 Coaching Certification and is the recipient of the 2012 USMS Kerry O'Brien Coaching Award. In addition, she is the Swim Coach for the Silicon Valley Triathlon Club and the El Camino YMCA Triathlon Club. She is also a Certified Spin Instructor and TRX Instructor. Laura's enthusiasm and dedication to make MVM a successful Masters program is evident in her creative, challenging workouts. Laura is also available for one-on-one lessons most mornings. Chris Campbell comes from a family of competitive swimmers and swam in college at Northwestern. Chris is an avid Masters Swimming competitor, specializing in middle and long distance freestyle and backstroke. He has also been involved in several open water events, including Alcatraz, Golden Gate, and the mighty Mississippi! Send Coach Chris an email. |

Tina Whiteside swam in college at the Univeristy of North Dakota while earning her BS in Mechanical Engineering. Being involved with Masters swimming for a number of years, and wanting to take a break from working as an engineer, she became interested in coaching and earned her ASCA Level 2 and USMS Level 2 coaching certifications. Tina reguarly competes in local and national meets, favoring the IM and backstroke events. Away from the pool she teaches yoga, works on her craft projects, and spends time with her husband. She is available mornings for private lessons on request. |

Misa Sugiura swam in high school (New Trier HS in IL), college (Princeton University in NJ), and on a Masters team (Nishinomiya People in Japan) before moving to California in 1995. She found MVM in 2001 and has been here ever since. Her favorite stroke is backstroke and her favorite distances are short. When she's not at the pool, she enjoys cycling, reading, writing, and hanging out with her husband and two sons. |

Ryan Garcia was born and raised in San Jose. He has been swimming for 15 years, and started swimming competitively when he was 7. Ryan broke numerous Pacific age group records as well as placed nationally in multiple events. He swam with a couple of Bay Area club teams; Santa Clara, West Coast Aquatics, and Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics. He swam four years in high school at Bellarmine as well as four years at UC Santa Barbara. Ryan has participated in nationals, U.S. Open, sectionals and Pac-12 conference championships. |
