Hi MVMers, I hope everyone had a good Halloween! Here’s the news of the week.
USMS Membership Renewal: We had a slight glitch with getting MVM renewed for 2026 but that has been taken care of. When you go to renew your membership you will now see our club. For anyone who has signed up as Unattached, you can go into your account and change it to MVM or send an email to membership@usmastersswimming.org. We apologize for this snafu! Gentle reminder that you must register with USMS by December 31st of this year. There is also an option to auto-renew if you want to go that route for future years. Everything is working now.
Rengstorff Pool: As you know we have been swimming at the Rengstorff Pool since Monday. If repairs at Eagle go as planned then our last day at Rengstorff will be November 16th. Just in case, here is the Temporary schedule at Rengstorff Pool:
Monday: 5, 6, 7 a.m. Nonfree focusTuesday: 5, 6, 7 a.m. Freestyle aerobic threshold Wednesday: 5, 6, 7 a.m. IM focusThursday: 5, 6, 7 a.m. Distance freestyle Friday: 5, 6, 7 a.m. Sprint freestyleSaturday: 6, 7, 8 a.m. Grab bagSunday: 7, 8 a.m. Distance freestyle
One last happy hour in 2025: We’ll go back to Cascal the week after next, either Nov. 18 or 19. Stay tuned for exact details as we get them. Happy hour will start at 5:30. MVM will pay for appetizers but not drinks or dinner. Weather permitting we will sit outdoors (they have heaters). Come and hang out with your fellow swimmers.
Welcome to new members: Let me know if you would like to be added to our Textedly list. We send mass texts only for emergencies, such as the pool is closed at the last minute. We don’t add people automatically. It’s an opt-in basis.
Human Interest: An environmental group has organized the 4th Annual Green Home Tour, which will take place this coming Saturday. It’s free but you have to sign up. If interested, click here. As an added bonus, my house is on the list as I have converted to to an all-electric home.
