Hello MVMers, happy first day of summer! Here’s the latest:
Lap swim changes: Unfortunately, the city will no longer be allowing MVM members to swim for free during public lap swim hours starting July 1, 2023. The MVM board tried to negotiate this privilege into the new contract but the city was firm, stating budgetary concerns. If you have an MVM lap pass, or you have been admitted by showing your USMS membership, it will be valid only until the end of the month.
You may still swim during public lap hours by paying a fee of $6/day ($7 for non-residents.) You may also purchase a membership of 25 swims for discounted rates. See marnibee.
MVM board meetings: Along with getting a copy of the monthly board meeting agenda I will also include a Zoom link to upcoming board meetings. All MVM members are allowed to sit in on board meetings if you have a desire to see the inner workings. The board does a lot for the team to keep everything running smoothly and you are welcome to join a meeting although you won’t be able to vote.
Social Events: Tomorrow evening is happy hour at Ludwig’s on Castro Street. Starts at 5:30pm. Pancake breakfast this coming Saturday, June 24, at Coach Al and Anita’s house following the Saturday morning workout. Address: 1761 Pilgrim Avenue in Mountain View.
Sand Harbor Open Water Swim: There is a beautiful open water swim at Sand Harbor on the shore of Lake Tahoe. Date is Sunday, August 13th. There are currently seven MVMers who have signed up. Make a weekend (or even a week) out of it. It’s a great open water swim for first-timers too – no current, no salt, no fish that would bite you (like a shark for example), and usually no waves. The swim is quite close to the shore. Here is the link: 2023 — 2023 Lake Tahoe Sharkfest Swim —

Whatsapp Group: I want to let everyone know we have an MVM Whatsapp group. It’s non-official and non-formal. Just a place to chat with each other. Anyone can join using this link:
