Weekly Email – 6/29

Hello MVMers:

Holiday Hours coming up: We will have holiday hours on July 4th. Workouts are 6am, 7am, and 8am. We will not have holidayhours on July 3rd. Those workouts will be our normal 5am, 6am, and 7am.

Lane Etiquette Guidelines and Reminders: We’ve been so excited to see more and more people at practice lately! But a full lane can come with challenges, both for swimmers and coaches. With this in mind, here are a few reminders for lane and workout etiquette:

1. The coach may have to adjust the lanes to accommodate the numbers. Be prepared to move when/where they tell you, and please be respectful of their decisions.
2. You may end up with a mix of speeds in your lane. Please make adjustments to accommodate. (It’s just one workout. You can do it!)
3. Generally speaking, make sure that everyone is on board with the intervals/adjustments before starting the set.
4. If you feel that you’re in the wrong lane, or if you don’t feel comfortable addressing a lane etiquette issue with your lane, feel free to check in with a coach.
5. Know that we will prioritize “on-time” swimmers. If you are very late (15 minutes or more), you may be asked to swim in the “small” pool, or in a lane that’s slower than what you like.

Bottom line: Be flexible and patient with each other and with the coaches. We’re all doing our best.

Emergency Action Plan: We’ve gained some new members over the past few weeks, so here’s a refresher on our Emergency Action Planin case an emergency occurs:
1. The coach will blow their whistle three times and turn off the clock. Stop swimming and get out of the pool immediately.
2. The coach will begin the rescue and direct individual swimmers to call 911 from the office (dial 9-911 from the land line); meet the emergency vehicles; and bring the AED and/or first aid kit from the office.
3. All other swimmers should remain on deck.
Hopefully we will never have to put this plan into action, but we want you all to be informed and ready just in case!

Video Sesssions with Coach Misa: Coach Misa has started her video swim clinics. The first one was this morning. She will video swimmers underwater in the shallow end and give a critique. Her next video session is this Saturday 7/1, 8:00 – 9:00. Sign up for a video session on the sheet at the pool! Currently there are only two slots open. This has been popular so you just might see more video sessions from her. 🙂

Stroke ClinicsSummer stroke clinics are here! Keep an eye/ear out for upcoming clinics for breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke, freestyle, and more.

Happy Swimming, MVM
