Hello MVMers:
Alert! Schedule change on Saturday’s only: Unfortunately the city has delayed the opening of Rengstorff pool and as a result, our schedule will change for the summer to accommodate youth swim lessons. We’re sorry for the inconvenience…I think everyone is eager for the new pool to open.
Beginning tomorrow, June 15, Saturdays will have only two practices at 6:00 and 7:00 AM. We will be done with practice by 8:00 as requested by the city so swim lessons can start. We will shift our Saturday clinics to 7:00 AM in the small pool.
There will be no changes to Sunday or weekdays. We are told this schedule change will only last a few weeks, but expect it could be in effect the whole summer. We’ll let you know as soon as we change back to normal Saturday hours.
Upcoming swim clinic schedule: Swim clinics are free to all MVM members and will take place in the shallow end unless otherwise specified. No need to sign up. Just show up if you want to participate. Here is the June schedule:
June 15 from 7-8am – beginning butterfly with Misa
June 16 from 8-9am – freestyle clinic with Kevin
June 29 – open water with Kate. This clinic will take place at Coyote Point in San Mateo. Arrive between 7:30 and 7:45. We’ll start swimming around 8am. There is a $6 fee to enter the park. Carpooling is recommended. It’s up to you if you want to wear a wetsuit. The water will be a bit nippy without a wetsuit, but manageable. More details as we get closer to the date.
Summer Picnic: The MVM Summer BBQ will be Sunday July 14, 11:00am, Cuesta Park. No sign-up necessary. Bring something to throw on the grill and something to share. Come and go as you please. The BBQ usually goes to 2 or 3 in the afternoon. MVM will supply water and some non-alcoholic beverages. Bring the kids!
Protocol reminder: Please do your best to be in the pool prior to the announcement of the drill set. The coaches are doing their best to make your swimming experience as fun as possible. This sometimes means rearranging the lanes to make sure some lanes are not too crowded while other lanes have only one or two people in them. Showing up late after lanes have been rearranged can negatively impact the pool. Thank you!
Happy Swimming, MVM
