Weekly Email – 3/14

Hi MVMers, happy Pi day! We have a lot of news for you.

February Fitness Auction Party: The Feb Fitness Auction Party is quickly approaching! Date is Thurs March 27, 5:30-7:30. $10/ person, guests welcome. Bring your appetite and a gift to auction off. (You get points for bringing a gift.) Use your hard earned MVM bucks to bid on fun items. Use this link to sign up.

Pool Closed the 22nd and 23rd: Eagle Pool will be closed the weekend of March 22-23 due to a swim meet. Practice is canceled both days. It’s a chance to go to lap swim at the new Rengstorff pool if you want to check out the facility.

Rengstorff Grand Opening: Speaking of checking out the facility, we’ve been invited to Rengstorff Pool’s Grand Opening on Saturday March 29 at 10:00 AM. We will have a small table at the event to promote the team. City leaders will give opening remarks and lead a dedication ceremony. A ceremonial first swim is also scheduled, and two lucky MVMers will be chosen to swim the inaugural first 50 yards. If you want a chance to be that swimmer, enter our raffle. Drop your name in the jar on the coach’s cart (once per practice). Two winners will be drawn March 27th at the Feb Fitness Auction.

Jasper Ridge Hike: If you have never been to Jasper Ridge, this is a great opportunity to see a hidden gem in our community. Located off Sand Hill Road in Woodside, Jasper Ridge is a biological preserve not open to the public. Two of our MVMers, Diane Renshaw and Alice Cummings are docents there as well as expert ecologists and botanists. By invitation they will lead a nature hike. We have room for eight more participants. Meet at the park on May 10th at 10am. Let me know if you are interested and I will put you on the list. Hike is free.

Grown Up Swimming
MVM is exploring the idea of hosting a “Grown Up Swimming” event one evening this summer. We’re seeking a volunteer who might like to be our point person. Duties include working with the Grown Up Swimming team on event logistics and helping to plan a social activity afterwards. It’s not as labor intensive as a traditional meet, but just as fun. Here is a little more info on Grown Up Swimming that you can read on their website: Grown-Up Swimming

Last week of December: The City has let us know that Eagle Pool will be closed the last week of December as it was this past December. Date of closure will most likely be Dec. 24-Jan. 1. It turns out that pools, and their equipment, need to rest. We are letting you know very far in advance so you can plan accordingly. We are sorry about the closure but this is entirely up to the City. This type of short closure is common for all public pools.

Textedly: If you want to be put on our Textedly list so you can get texts about last minute pool closures, then reply to this email.

Happy Swimming, MVM
